Statistics for March consumer litigation filings are in with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) again leading the pack in terms of increased litigation filings and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) not far behind.
Overall, according to a recent report by WebRecon, court filings under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) were down for the month. On the other hand, FCRA and FDCPA filings as well as complaints filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) were all up. Everything is still up YTD.
WebRecon reports the overall statistics for consumer litigation in March as follows:
- 931 FCRA cases were filed, representing an 18.9% increase from February;
- 413 FDCPA cases were filed, representing a 17.3% increase from February;
- 283 TCPA cases were filed, representing a 3.1% decrease from February; and
- 33,397 complaints were filed with the CFPB, representing an 18.9% increase from February.
Complaints and filings are all up compared to the same period in the prior year (January 1 to March 31, 2025): FCRA +40.1%, FDCPA +12.1%, TCPA +23.7%, CFPB +46.6%.
