According to a recent report by WebRecon, court filings under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), as well as complaints filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) all increased in 2025 compared to 2024. December 2025 filings also rose in every category except TCPA, which declined by only two cases.
WebRecon reports the overall statistics for consumer litigation in December 2025:
- 749 FCRA cases were filed, representing a 15.6% increase from November;
- 458 FDCPA cases were filed, representing a 36.3% increase from November;
- 222 TCPA cases filed, representing a 0.9% decrease from November; and
- 29,618 complaints filed with the CFPB, representing a 11.7% increase from November.
On a year‑over‑year basis (January 1 – December 31, 2025 vs. the same period in 2024), complaints and filings were up across the board: (FCRA +37.4%, FDCPA +7.8%, TCPA +0.8%, CFPB +89.1%).
