Justin Balser, an experienced litigator and compliance attorney, has joined Troutman Pepper’s nationally recognized Consumer Financial Services Practice Group as a partner. Balser joins from Akerman where he was managing partner of the firm’s Denver office. He previously served as legal counsel and advisor to senior management at Lehman Brothers’ mortgage subsidiary, Aurora Loan Services LLC.

Balser works with financial institutions, mortgage lenders, loan servicers, and other credit related entities throughout the United States on consumer finance litigation and compliance matters. He litigates federal and state consumer lending and servicing claims, loan repurchase, and mortgage fraud matters and works with state and federal regulatory agencies in investigating mortgage fraud and related issues. He also advises on operational compliance and regulatory issues and implementation of remediation strategies.

He earned his J.D. from Whittier Law School and his bachelor’s degree from University of California, Santa Barbara.
